December, 2002

Hello everyone,

Can you believe that the year is almost over? WOW...what a year. I hope everyone has a wonderful X-mas and very fun yet safe New Year.

Well, we recently returned from a wonderful visit to the very enchanting island of Puerto Rico. It was a very hectic and event filled week. Inst. Terry King and Inst. John Stenson made the trip with me. We immediately got to training. We managed to squeeze in a Demo at Maestro Sellas' school, as well as a Seminar that was sponsored by Sensei Miguel "Magic" Quinones in Bayamon. For the big finale, Hanshi Bill Solano hosted the Latin American Martial Arts Hall of Fame held in Carolina. I was honored with the International Grand Master of the Year Award. Hanshi Solano managed to make me blush as he read a brief history of my training and why I was chosen for this award.

Thank you soo much for everything.I can't wait to see you here in San Francisco next year for our 4th Annual tournament. For those that haven't heard, we have set the date for May 18th, and the location will be the same as last year. Contact us for more info. We are expecting quite a few FMS students to be here. As it stands, Hollister, New York, Spokane, Denver, Modesto and Huntington Beach students have made commitments to be here.

We recently had our HQ X-mas party here in San Francisco. For this year, we took the party to Hot Pot City, Korean restaurant. It was a total blast. We had great food, great conversation, and a warm and beautiful time. Thank you all so much for being such wonderful students and just awesome people. Just before the party, I was thinking to myself, "What could my students possibly be getting me this year?" I don't really want anything other than their love, friendship and loyalty. And I believe we already share that mutually. But, once I opened my gift and saw the editing equipment, I thought....Oh yeah,...I really wanted this too...I was actually going to buy it for myself after the holidays!

Thank you all soo much.

It seems like we all have so much to be thankful for this year, and should take personal inventory of ourselves.

On a last note, I spoke with Inst. Pinto this past week end. He is back in Portugal, and says that the weather has been terrible, but he is extremely happy to be back with his family and students. He has already begun teaching, and they are having the best time.......Good job sir. Keep up the good work.

OK, that's all for now, have a wonderful holiday season and I'll see you all in 2003!

With brotherhood,

Kuk Sa - De Alba
