February, 2004

Hello Everyone,

First of all, let me thank Inst. Chris Knight, his lovely wife Anne Knight and all of the amazing students in the Spokane FMS school for coordinating an awesome trip. We had a great series of seminars, great dinners, and an overall wonderful experience. Training included Forms, Stand Up Fighting, Joint Locking, Take Downs, Grappling and Weapons such as Staff, Middle Sticks, the rarely seen Rope Fighting (Po Bok Sul) and of course our now famous Knife Fighting. All the family members made everything that much more special. The Spokane demo team kicked off the seminars with a great show. Inst. John Stenson from WHQ-SF and Inst. Carlos Sanchez from Denver came to join in on the fun. Thank you very much for all your help. We also managed to get a couple of special Black Belt training sessions. Too much fun. I can't wait to see you all here in SF for Warrior Quest #5.

WHQ News: While we were up in the great North West, Inst. Stenson and myself stopped in Tacoma, WA. for a visit with Greg Walker. We took full advantage to get some great training in as well as formally award his certificates at his Special Forces Unit as Special Military Tactics Instructor - Modern Farang Mu Sul® - STK Program, to 4th Dan, Kwan Jang Nim and appointment as the 1st Sulsa in Modern Farang Mu Sul®. We had the opportunity to go out for dinner and hook up with Datu Kelly Worden and Inst. Tony Gordon. Good conversation, and a great time indeed.

News from NY: Insts. Anthony and Joey Spataro along with Inst. Ianonne recently conducted a couple of Women's Self Defense Seminars. They had a great turn out of some very eager women, ready to work. They covered many key principals and common sense elements that many times are taken for granted. They focused on awareness, confidence, and responsibility for one's safety. They also covered many self defense scenarios, with very simple yet powerful responses. What a great service. Keep it up you guys!

More News from NY: Inst. Ken Gibson from Manhattan FMS recently conducted a couple of workshops focusing on combative boxing. You can never get enough boxing, trust me, and it is great to really get all the fundamentals and advanced training methods as well. Good job Sir, keep them sweating and make sure their hands are UP!

More News from NY: Inst. Schleeter from Hollister FMS, just returned from a great trip to the East Coast where he conducted a series of seminars focusing on Dan Bong Sul (Short Stick Tech), Hapki Yu Sul (Grappling) and Hoshin Sang Jwa Gi Sul (Seated in a chair tech) among other subjects. What an awesome experience! Everyone is waiting for his next trip.

News from Portugal: The Portugese FMS students recently competed in the National Vale Tudo Tournament in Lisbon. Inst. Pinto can be very proud as they all came away with many awards. Actually, we are ALL very proud of you guys. CONGRATULATIONS!! Farang!!!

And now, we have the best news anyone could hope for, and that is the announcement of new FMS babies! Inst. Sanindon from Huntington Beach, CA and Inst. Nickels from Hershey, PA have recently become proud papa's of beautiful little girls. Here are our first look at little Laura Saindon and Ashley Soo-Kyong Nickels. CONGRATULATIONS!!!.....Good luck getting any real sleep from now on....
